MAESC Supports Green Transition in Egypt Through SME Initiative
In a move reaffirming its strong commitment to sustainability and the green transition, MAESC announced its active participation in the World Environment Day 2025 celebration. This significant event saw the launch of the "Green Small and Medium Enterprises Guide and Digital Self-Assessment Mechanism for Environmental Performance" by Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

MAESC believes that the future is built on principles of sustainability, and this initiative is an integral part of its vision and strategic objectives. The guide and digital mechanism aim to empower youth and entrepreneurs to transform their ideas and projects into environmentally friendly and sustainable business models.

Dr. Yasmine Fouad affirmed that this guide represents a "gift from the Ministry of Environment" to support the state's plan for a just green transition, providing a clear roadmap for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Representatives of the international partners, Mr. Patrick Jean Gilabert from UNIDO and Ms. Reem El-Saady from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, highlighted the vital role of the Environmental and Climate Investment Unit at the Ministry of Environment in stimulating investments and simplifying procedures for investors in green economy projects.

MAESC recognizes that small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of the Egyptian economy, representing over 90% of it. Therefore, equipping these businesses with the necessary tools and knowledge for a green transition will significantly contribute to driving sustainable development.
